Google Summer of Code™ 2008 is (almost) on! Last year, we funded over 900 students' projects in more than 90 countries, producing millions of lines of code. We're very excited to be doing Google Summer of Code once more, and we're looking forward to helping the community find more new contributors and produce even more code for everyone's benefit.
We won't be accepting applications until March, so in the interim check out the FAQs for more information. You can find us hanging out in #gsoc on Freenode or on the program discussion list. We would love to hear from you, so please come and join us.

Hope to contribute some code to KDE.
I missed last year. I'm really excited
Awesome!!! I participated in last year edition. And it was really lots of fun. I'll spread the word. And great thanks to Google and especially to the guys on the Open Source Team.

Looks awesome. I'm off to the IRC channel!
Too bad I can't do it this summer, that's what I get for being young for my class...
I m in this time...
Hi Leslie,
Thanks for the early announcement. Gives us time to get more students in! :)
Glad to hear that all of you are so excited about Summer of Code.
@ ben c.: Announcing early was beneficial for us last year - both organizations and student had more time to learn about the program - so we're continuing the tradition this year.
Yeah, I'm going to send my applications in too. Last year, I didn't hear about it until a few days before the application deadline, so all I had was a couple hasty applications. Now, I've been jotting down ideas for this year over the last few months, so I think I'll have a better game plan this time. I too want to work on KDE.
What is the process join in?
@norman visit code.google.com and read the FAQs :)
I can not wait to submit for this year's projects. I'm hoping to really jump in to this as I missed it last year!
